All Things Tennis: How to Stay Motivated

Motivation is the catalyst towards success. All of the famous athletes or other success stories have one thing in common other than their individual success, that is, they were motivated. Motivation can be lost when you are at rock bottom and even when you are on cloud nine. The reasons for both are completely opposite to one another. In the former you lose motivation primarily because you begin to think that you are not good enough, and in the latter you start believing that you are too good to even try, both mean that you are not going to progress any further or stay at the top any longer. So how does one stay motivated?

It is essential to have someone by your sad that you know has your best interest embedded in their hearts, someone you know shall never let you down and wishes you to succeed. Such a person could be your friend, your family or even your coach. Nothing keeps a person as motivated as a friend who constantly keeps them in check and drives them to continue pursuing their goal. Being with a friend is always fun and motivating as well, so you should schedule weekly or monthly activities such as runs, workouts or even some friendly matches.

A placebo effect is one of the strongest means of positive deception. A study by the Northwestern University has suggested that subjects that were donning lab coats performed better on tests than those without them. So you should treat yourself by donning the same attire worn by your favorite player or by purchasing the fanciest new racket available in stores. This can have a placebo effect and make you believe that you do better, who knows? Maybe a Federer or Djokovic might have a magic racket.

You should set small goals and aim to pursue them first; this will ultimately take you closer to your ultimate goal, one goal at a time. This can be learning a new shot, or defeating that one friend of yours that always finds a way to just beat you. These small steps lead towards a much larger goal, and achieving these small goals keeps you motivated and ultimately helps you remain on track. Thinking of the gratification you may receive once you achieve you ultimate goal makes it all worth it.

That sense of potential satisfaction that you would receive keeps you motivated to get there, and working hard to get there makes it all the more joyous. So you should remind yourself every day that you wake up of what it would be like when you achieve your target, this alone should provide you enough fuel to get to your self-defined finish line.

Some people make it an excuse that they have to travel far to practice their game, for these people to stay on the right track, it is recommended that they have their own court. For the best tennis court maintenance service in the country, contact Talbot Tennis.
