Types of Tennis Court

A tennis court is a place where the game of tennis is played. It is a smooth rectangular surface with a low net extended across the center. A similar surface can be utilized to play both singles and doubles matches. The magnitudes of a tennis court are well-defined and managed by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) administrating body and are written down in the yearly 'Rules of Tennis' report. Different type of surfaces can be used for the construction of a tennis court, each with its own particular qualities which influence the playing style of the game.

Each kind of material have its own benefits and offers great challenges to players. Frequently certain playing styles will work well on some types and less effectively on other types of surfaces. Following are the types of tennis court:

Acrylic Hard Courts

The standard in the tennis world – 4-5 layers of surfaced, hued acrylic paint applied to a solid or  asphalt surface

Acrylic Cushion Courts

A cushion court ranging from 2mm to 8mm supplies additional shock absorption to the body  bringing about better joint well being and longer play

Indoor Courts

Any turf, clay, acrylic cushion or acrylic hard court surface which is functional under rooftops or  covers is named an indoor tennis court

Outdoor Courts

Outdoor tennis courts are open-air and can be hard courts, clay courts, cushion courts, grass courts or  turf courts

Turf Courts

It is an artificial grass surface which is carefully chosen when a player wants a similar play to grass  courts. Turf courts have much lower maintenance costs as compared to grass courts

Clay Courts

These courts are normally made of stone, crushed shale or bricks. Clay courts consist of two different  types i.e. red clay or green clay. Clay courts need day-to-day maintenance but offer the advantage of  “slide” to the players

7.       Grass Courts

These courts were initially known as Lawn Tennis and at one time they were one of the fundamental types of tennis court surfacing. With maintenance cost, generally higher than most other courts, it isn't astonishing that grass courts aren't exceptionally famous in the USA
